Tourist accommodation development plan in the Gers department - Start of assignments :
Summer, Fall 2007 Background and objectives of the client The department of Gers, includes many top tourist attractions and is particularly well known for its cuisine. Faced with increasing French and foreign demand the Gers is struggling to structure the provision of tourist accommodation. With the growth of tourist flows and the arrival of new tourists, the supply of tourist accommodation has changed little, and has even deteriorated to the point that some sectors are threatened. Whilst defining tourist strategy, the department also wishes to take stock of the offer in hotels, serviced accommodation, and the open-air hotel business … Our assignment After conducting a four-month, broad audit of the hotel and various tourist accommodation offers and after meeting a wide range of professionals and key players in tourism, we were able to identify the strengths and weaknesses of accommodation supply and demand. From this comprehensive overview, also based on numerous surveys and interviews, we were able to make targeted recommendations concerning: quantitative and qualitative changes in supply, changes in accommodation development strategy by micro-market (after identifying them), assessment of the aid systems allocated to hoteliers and suggest improvements ... Our potentiality study enabled us to make a 10-year forecast by analyzing the potential of each micro-market and drawing up a real roadmap for future accommodation projects.
